I used to live in Oakland California. I had a great big house where people would come and not want to leave. Everyone said my house reminded them of the best house on the block when they were kids. I liked to have parties where my friends would come and hang out. For more than 20 years I had a systems integration business. Yup, I was a geek. Well I guess I still I am, I just don't make a living that way anymore. I know the responsibilities of running a business and good customer service. Before I danced tango I danced salsa. I have danced my whole life - ballroom, tap, ballet, disco, hustle..slam dancing..you name it. I was president of the Bay Area Argentine Tango Association in the San Francisco Bay Area for more than 2 years. I had to leave the country to stop being president. (I am serious!) In the Bay Area I danced and performed, as well as taught with visiting teachers from Argentina. I have studied tango with many fine teachers but my best lessons came on the floors of the milongas in Buenos Aires at Lo de Celia. My favorite dancer Pocho is 85 years old and asks me after each dance if I am tired. I have been very lucky to have many wonderful people at the milongas teach me the respect for the dance. I have assisted and taught tango here with several teachers well known Argentine teachers. Some people think that I was very brave to sell my house and pretty much everything I owned to come to live in Argentina. As I said on my home page I accepted the mortality of life. So many times in my life I wanted to go live somewhere else or do something different with my life. I never did because of "material things". I have since learned the only thing of value you can give yourself is to be true to yourself. You must follow your dream and that is exactly what I did. Staying with me is an experience you will never regret and you will never have at any other tango guesthouse. Why? Because with me you get the flavor of what it is like to live her. |
